The last 18 months have tested me more than I ever imagined.
I’ve been navigating a marriage breakdown, the aftermath of a house fire that damaged my home, and the quiet ache of not having my little girl by my side every single day. It’s been relentless—mentally, emotionally, and physically.
Coming from a military background, I was wired to just “keep your head down and carry on.” That mindset has served me well in many areas of life—but this time, it wasn’t enough. I’ve come to learn that resilience isn’t about never falling apart. It’s about knowing when to stop, take a breath, and let yourself feel.
Think of it like a cup. You keep pouring in stress, grief, worry… and eventually, it overflows.
And mine did.
But this isn’t a post about falling—this is about what helped me get back up.
It’s the people. My family and friends have been my anchor. I’ve leaned on them more than ever, and they’ve shown up for me in ways I’ll never forget. If you’re reading this—you know who you are. Thank you for being my light.
It’s the little things. Lacing up my trainers and heading out for a hike or a run. Feeling the fresh air on my face. Letting myself cry when I needed to. Pausing to check in with myself—not just pushing through.
And it’s the decision to focus on me. To take back my power, one step at a time.
The truth is, the hardest times are the ones that make you realise just how strong your circle is. I don’t think I’d still be smiling without mine.
If you’re going through something, I see you. Keep going. And don’t be afraid to lean on the people who love you.
You don’t have to carry it all alone.
