How Often Do You Need to Review Your H&S Documents?
Having up-to-date documents is vital to keeping up with ever-changing Health & Safety law and remaining compliant. However, re-drafting risk assessments every week will take up a lot of your time, so how often should you review your documents? Let our Health & Safety consultant Steve fill you in:
You should review your Health & Safety policy at least once a year, or when there is a change in legislation that is relevant to your organisation. There are also a number of points in your business’ lifetime that should be accompanied by a review of your Health & Safety policy, such as changes to work procedures, significant business growth or the introduction of new services or products.
Your risk assessments will also need to be kept up date to remain compliant. To keep everything together, these should be reviewed at the same time as your Health & Safety policy. However, if there are any changes to work procedures, you should review the relevant risk assessments. Furthermore, if you have an incident that wasn’t anticipated by risk assessments, you should review the risk assessments and ensure the hazard is included, and controls put in place.
