This week I have spent a lot of time with business owners who are either planning to bring staff back from furlough or are having to face the reality of making more permanent cuts as the furlough scheme starts to gradually reduce in the coming weeks.
What was really apparent is that how businesses have communicated with their staff throughout the whole pandemic massively varies and this has provided different challenges for each.
Where there has been a lack of information given to try and protect the workers, then the silence has perhaps created some resentment and a feeling employees have been forgotten. Where it is too much information then employees are fearful for their job security.
