Where Should I Advertise a Job When I Need to Recruit?
Before you can sit down to any interviews, you first need to gather up some candidates. You’ve written a good advert with all the necessary information, but where should you post it? There is a plethora of ways to advertise your job: Online job boards, social media, recruitment agencies and simple word of mouth to name a few. Which option is best for you depends on the role you are recruiting for.
Online Job Boards:
Online job boards such as Indeed, Totaljobs and Monster Jobs are a staple in recruitment. Some sites may let you post an ad free of charge, some may charge you to post, but they are the first port of call for most people looking for jobs, so you won’t have a shortage of applicants. The key is to be very specific in your requirements so that you don’t get too many people who, after reading through a CV, you have to discount anyway. You can also pay to upgrade your advert so that it appears at the top of job searches and is seen by more people. However, you decide to use a job board, you will most likely get wave of CVs in your inbox to read through, so you may want to consider using the services of a recruitment agency to screen these, which brings us onto the next method.
Using a recruitment agency to fill your vacancy is the most stress-free way of recruiting. Simply tell the agency what you need and let them do all the groundwork. They will draft an advert for you, post it online and use their contacts to find candidates and screen applicants so you get the best candidates for your interviews. If you’re looking to hire quick, this may be the best option as it takes a lot of the time-consuming CV reading off your plate.
Social Media / Word of Mouth:
Finally, you could post your vacancy on social media and let it travel by word of mouth. The benefit of this method is that even people who aren’t looking for jobs will see the vacancy and hopefully pass it along to someone who is. This method is best used when recruiting for relatively low-skilled or casual roles.
